IMPORTANT NOTICE TO SEAI REGISTERED CONTRACTORS

From 8th June 2010, a Building Energy Rating (BER) is to be an integral part of all grant applications under the Home Energy Saving scheme, whereby homeowners must undertake a BER on their home after grant aided works have been completed. This will give homeowners a thorough and objective assessment of the energy performance of their home following upgrade works, including a rating on an A-G scale.                                                                                                                                                                     The first such BER assessment will attract grant aid of €100.

SEAI REGISTERED CONTRACTOR SERVICES LIST

 Kingtherm Home Energy supply a full technical service to all contractors involved in the SEI Home Energy Savings Scheme. Our service is aimed at reducing the technical workload on the contractor by dealing with detailed written quotations, material specifications, required material quantities, achievement of required finished U values and completion of the required Declaration of Works form.

SEI requires, that the "Declaration of Works" contains accurate calculation of finished U-values along with full material specifications to be submitted before they will issue payment to the homeowner.

 OUR DOCUMENTATION SERVICE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING….

• Site visit for the purpose of data collection in order to provide accurate area measurements and provide recommendations for materials best suited to the particular project.
• Supply of scaled floor plans (if required) for the purpose of reference and accuracy.
• Percentage of areas, which can feasibly be fitted with the required level of insulation, and documented reasons why certain areas would be deemed not suitable for fitting.
• Accurate calculation methods to determine the base values of elements requiring retro-fit of insulation products.
• Recommendations regarding materials to be applied, in order to achieve the desired level of insulation in each area. Percentage of areas covered and finished U values of these areas
• Specifications, as to the application and finish of these materials is also given.
• Accurate, professional and detailed quotations, for submission to the potential client, outlining in detail, all proposed works.
• Full advice service to the contractor, for clarification of any technical issues, which may arise during works.
• Accurate completion of the "Declaration of Works" form on completion of all works.

All the above services are carried out by competent, professional and qualified personell, with extensive practical knowledge of all up to date methods of insulation and insulation products.

CONTRACTORS WHO SUPPLY DETAILED AND ACCURATE QUOTATIONS CONTAINING INDICATIONS THAT ALL LEVELS OF COMPLIANCE WILL BE REACHED SHOULD INCREASE THEIR CHANCES OF SECURING THE CONTRACT.

CONTRACTORS SHOULD NOTE THAT "DECLARATION OF WORKS" FORMS CONTAINING INACCURATE OR INCORRECT INFORMATION ON MATERIALS, AREAS OR FINAL AVERAGE U VALUES, MAY BE RETURNED TO THE HOMEOWNER AND GRANT PAYMENT REFUSED.

CORRECT COMPLETION OF THE TECHNICAL SECTION OF THE "DECLARATION OF WORKS" IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
