As the world becomes more aware of the ongoing and deepening energy crisis, the
conservation of energy is becoming a necessity in our own homes.
Home insulation is a vitally important method of energy conservation
At KingTherm we aim to provide the most effective and efficient method of home insulations
At present the methods of home insulation most used are "Cavity
pumping" and "Exterior face insulation and render"
Consider the disadvantages:-
With the Cavity pumping method........
- No guarantee that pumping the cavity will actually completely fill the cavity as breaches and obstructions can occur during construction.
- The heat must penetrate the first layer of the block wall before reaching the insulation barrier, resulting in some heat loss.
- Not every house is suitable for cavity pumped insulation, as a large percentage of older houses have solid wall construction.
With the Exterior face insulation and render method..........
- Not suitable for terraced or semi-detached houses
- Not suitable for brick front, or any type of period
architecture
- Windows, doors, gutters, sills etc will need to be moved out
- Roof overhang may not be great enough, thus requiring an
extension of the entire roof.
- The heat must penetrate all layer's of the wall before
reaching the insulation barrier, resulting in some heat loss
These are but a few of the major disadvantages.
At KingTherm we use the superior method of insulating the interior faces of the exterior walls using high
insulating value insulated plasterboard suitable for all types of home.
Consider the advantages:-
- There is a significant reduction of
heat loss from the dwelling due to the fact that the insulation barrier is on the interior wall,
more so in fact than if the heat had to first penetrate the wall of the
dwelling.
- Insulation is visible covering the entire area (as opposed to inside a
cavity which cannot be viewed) so that total coverage is evident
- Our insulation will also boost any existing cavity wall insulation.
- Suitable for all types of building construction e.g. semi detached,
detached, apartment, terraced.
- No major architectural alterations necessary. e.g. moving of windows,
doors, downpipes, sills, etc.
Due to these significant advantages the breaches and gaps, which may occur with cavity pumping, are not an issue.
The service, that we at KingTherm provide includes;
- The refitting of all window boards, Skirting, coving etc.
- The replacement, or addition, of power points.
- Quality plastering of all walls insulated.
- High value attic insulation as required.

With effect from the 1st January 2009, all homes and businesses for sale, rent or lease will legally require a building energy rating (BER)
certificate. Having suitable insulation installed will positively increase your
BER, thus increasing the value of your property.
